Jeanne’s Biography
Jeanne Lamsam is a collector and writer of unforgettable true and fictional stories. Her own life is something of a story.
Jeanne’s physician father died a few months before she was born. However, she thrived in the love of her mother, who encouraged her to read from the age of four. When she was 10, a local newspaper published her first poem. Throughout her childhood and youth, storybooks provided Jeanne with entertainment and stimulated her imagination.
After high school, Jeanne enrolled in the University of Wisconsin, Madison. There she wrote a three-act play, All with Outcry, which was produced by the University and performed in The Play Circle theatre.
For years, Jeanne had dreamed of traveling to far away places with strange-sounding names. At the university, she met students from countries all over the world and fell in love with a foreign student from Thailand. After graduation they married and moved to Bangkok, Thailand, her husband’s home. Jeanne learned to speak, read, and write Thai. During more than ten years in Bangkok, she taught English and creative writing in the International School and wrote articles for the English-language paper, The Bangkok Post. During vacations, she traveled repeatedly around the world, visiting many countries, including several in the Far East.
While visiting California, tragedy struck when Jeanne’s husband died of a heart attack. Jeanne decided to move back to Wisconsin, her home state. There, she continued her writing career, working as a free-lance writer and editor. She wrote many short stories and completed a mystery novel, Thorn of the Snow Rose.
